PROBLEM: Uncontrolled energy costs
Manufactured products that use energy as part of the process of making a product have seen huge increases in energy bills in the last few years. Processes that require drying and curing of product have seen energy bills rivaling material and labor costs.

SOLUTION:
UAI thickness gages and Measuremate software to accurately measure and control product thickness.

1. Material was consistently being made .025” too thick to ensure that minimum target thickness was produced.
2. A pattern of consistent thickness variation was traced to an upstream process roller that was out of round. The process problem was fixed, the real time thickness data and Measuremate software allowed the process to be run closer to target, resulting in a saving in annual energy consumption of $112,000.
